Parsha Ki Tavo - video sermon

Ki Tavo is the storytelling parasha. In it, we read that a farmer, flushed with pride at their new crops, is to bring the bikkurim, the first produce, to the Temple and share, in story form, a perfect potted history of our people. The farmer's gratitude is expressed in a narrative that began centuries earlier.

We are a storytelling people, exemplified by Seder night (and this very episode from our parasha appears in the Hagada). But how much do we bring this into our lives beyond? Storytelling is so very key to human identity, sense of rootedness and an understanding of purpose. So this parasha is our encouragement to tell more stories - be they family, individual, organisation, or religious stories.

Go forth and tell!

This 90 second sermon is dedicated to the ilui neshama of יהודית חיה בת שרה רבקה whose moving, funny and humbling life stories were told today as she was laid to rest.
