7th night of Chanukah - Part of Kehillat Nashira's 8 nights of Chanukah series for 2024

On the seventh night of Chanukah, we have a special treat for you – a retelling of the story of Judith, the lesser-known but inspiring heroine of Chanukah. In tonight’s video, two of Kehillat Nashira’s very own Bat Mitzvah graduates, Olivia Silver and Juno Roukin, share this powerful tale.

Judith’s story is one of bravery, intelligence, and courage. As a Jewish widow, she saves her people from the enemy, demonstrating remarkable strength and faith. While the story of Judah the Maccabee is widely known, Judith's story shows another side to Chanukah.

Olivia and Juno do a fantastic job retelling the ancient story of Judith. In the video, they also highlight famous artworks featuring Judith, including a work by Caravaggio. Juno also presents art by Esther Pam Zibell and even a Barbie-inspired piece by contemporary artist Laura Critchlow.

We invite you to watch the video, learn about this powerful story, and reflect on the many ways we can all bring light into the world.

Stay tuned for the final part of our Chanukah series tomorrow, as we bring this celebration to a close!
